Roland DA-400

At the NAMM show in January 1994, Roland announced the DA-400, a 4 Channel D/A Converter designed to work alongside the S-760 (see the bottom of the page for a link to the unit specifications).

It proved a popular add-on as the converters were matched to those of the sampler, so sounds would stay of the same characteristics as opposed to being modified by the conversion process of another make and model.

This is what the brochure of the time said:

Converts two stereo digital inputs into four analog outputs.
Expands the S-760/OP-760-1 to eight analog outputs.
Accepts both coaxial and optical digital inputs.
18-bit 8-times oversampling.

The DA-400 is both a digital-to-analog converter and an
output expander, ideal for use with an S-760 Digital
Sampler/ OP-760-1 combination.
